Saša Bajt
Advanced Multilayer X-ray Optics
Saša Bajt leads the Advanced Multilayer X-ray Optics Group at the Center for Free-Electron Laser Science at DESY. Her work focuses on the development of novel X-ray optics based on thick multilayers, such as high numerical aperture multilayer Laue lenses, which can focus intense X-rays from synchrotron radiation sources and X-ray free electron lasers to a few nanometres, a size comparable to a single protein molecule.
The intensities that one can produce with such small beams will bring X-ray imaging methods like microscopy and holography to new levels. She is also developing new X-ray wavefront characterization techniques to improve multilayer deposition process for high-precision X-ray lenses and studying properties of these nanolayered structures.
