Welcome at the DESY research centre
DESY invites you on a journey into the world of the smallest particles and shows you things in a completely different light. Book a journey through time into the universe and take an X-ray look at the technology of tomorrow.
Please note:
- We are almost fully booked in 2025 and we can only consider longer-term enquiries for DESY tours. However, we will be opening our DESYUM visitor centre in autumn 2025, which will feature a large exhibition for visitors.
- Individuals have the opportunity to accompany an existing group every day if there are still enough places available.
- Please send an enquiry with your preferred date or period and number of people to: desypr@desy.de
General information:
- Please always enquire as early as possible, especially for larger groups.
- The tours last approx. 2.5 - 3 hours and are free of charge.
- Generally, guided tours can start Monday to Friday in the morning between 9.30-10.30 am or in the afternoon between 1 pm and 2 pm.
- Other starting times are not possible for organisational reasons.
Safety instructions:
- The tour is not suitable for people with reduced mobility.
- During the tour, many stairs and approx. 10,000 steps have to be walked.
- For safety reasons, children and young people under the age of 12 are not permitted to take part.
- We expressly recommend participation in the tours only from the age of ~16 years/ 10th grade.

The DESY visit is recommended for students in the final years of secondary education, especially for those who attended advanced courses in physics.
