DESY encourages the balance between work at DESY and private life, and puts into practice equal opportunities and compatibility of family and job. An important step to achieve this is to provide a family service offer.
The kindergarten located on the DESY campus is a publicaly supported day care in open association. It can accommodate a total of 120 children and is managed by “Kinderwelt Hamburg e.V”.
It offers full-day care at nursery and elementary level. Opening hours are Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Within the frame of possibilities, an emergency care service is also available; however, if possible, parents should inform the kindergarten in good time about their requirements. Interested parents are asked to register their child at an early stage.
Conference and Emergency care
For parents attending a workshop or a conference, a limited child day care program can be offered:
- The children must be older than two and younger than six years.
- The language of care is English, the children are integrated as far as possible into the everyday life of the day care centre
- The cost will be 11 EUR/h.(Please inquire at your home institute whether a cost absorption is possible)
- The binding registration is necessary about 4-6 weeks before the event
- Parents must be available at all times
Emergency care
As far as possible, "fire brigade care" is also offered, but parents should register their needs as far as possible in good time.
