   Short description of the project the student should work on  :

   Beam dynamics studies for linear accelerators (FLASH, XFEL, ILC or PETRA).
   Analysis of measurements of properties of the electron beam in FLASH or PETRA,
   like beam trajectory, dispersion, losses, oscillations, instabilities, etc.
   Development of techniques and tools to control (correct) the electron beam
   and to improve the performace of free-electron lasers and storage rings.

   Physics / Computing/ Engineering  Content of the project :

   B4. Research on Accelerators. Charged particle accelerator physics,
   linear accelerators, beam diagnostics and control software.

  Special Qualifications expected from the student ( Computing,...) :
 
  Experience with programming languages like C, C++ or Java will be very helpful.
