   Short description of the project the student should work on  :

   "HERA data combinations and fits with HERAFitter".
   HERAFitter is an open source tool that can be used for various 
   parton densities (PDFs) fits, as well as combination of different 
   data sets. The fits can be done for different PDF parametrizations,
   alpha_s can be fitted as well, together with PDFs or separately.
   HERAFitter gives a very nice opportunity to work with a highly 
   sophisticated tool and obtaining meaningful and interesting physics
   results. The data sets used in the fits can be taken from the 
   HERA experiments as well as LHC, Tevatron or others.
   The same tool allows also combination on data sets coming from 
   different experiments and studying consequences of such combinations.

   Basic knowledge of high energy physics, linux, C++, fortran useful.
   Open mind, energy and interest in the subject.
