Does Europe need its own center for Artificial Intelligence (AI) in order to keep up with US and Chinese competition ? Timo Daum suggests to take the very form of CERN as public institution seriously, as well as the design of one of its legacies, the World Wide Web. He asks for a public, transparent AI, aimed at the benefit of the World and its inhabitants.
