Inauguration of the new CTAO SDMC building

The CTAO (Cherenkov Telescope Array Observatory), one of the major European research projects of the coming decades, will be the world's largest gamma-ray observatory, dedicated to studying high-energy astrophysical processes in the Universe. With its unprecedented sensitivity and performance, the CTAO will open a new window at the high edge of the electromagnetic spectrum, seeking to address questions in and beyond astrophysics falling under three major themes: understanding the origin and role of relativistic cosmic particles, probing extreme environments and exploring frontiers in physics. The Science Data Management Centre (SDMC) on the DESY campus in Zeuthen, south-east of Berlin, serves as the scientific gateway to the CTAO, coordinating the software and computing work as well as the science operations of the Observatory and making CTAO's data products available to the worldwide community. The building will host the CTAO Computing Department and will attract scientists from all over the world to work on campus. The event will be streamed live on YouTube. (English and German)
