Out of an abundance of caution related to the spread of COVID-19, DESY is postponing the Photowalk planned for 18 April 2020 to a date in autumn, which is still to be determined.
A new date will be announced in the course of the summer.
About DESY
DESY is one of the world's leading accelerator centres and is a reseacrh centre of the Helmholtz Association. At DESY, large particle accelerators are developed, built and operated to investigate the structure of matter. DESY's broad, internationally oriented research spectrum is based on three main areas: the development, construction and operation of accelerators, photon science and particle and astroparticle physics.
About the Photowalk
A photowalk is an event where a group of photography fans meet to go on a photo safari together for several hours. At DESY, the group has the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes of the research centre and take pictures of anything they like. The participants are divided into smaller groups and guided to several places on site that are otherwise not open to the public.
The next Photowalk will take place on Saturday, 18 April 2020. It will last about four hours.
The DESY photowalk is part of the international Interactions Photowalk, which takes place at several research centres around the world.
Participants have the opportunity to enter a competition with their photos. The winning photos will then automatically be entered into the international competition.
Participation in the Photowalk
The terms and conditions for participating in the DESY photowalk apply to all participants. All interested parties are requested to register online. The first 60 registrations can participate in the Photowalk. All others automatically enter a waiting list, from which they can move up in case of cancellation.
The event is free of charge and will take place on 18 April 2020 from 10:00 to 14:00 h. After a welcome and safety briefing, participants will be divided into groups of 10-15 people. Each group will be accompanied by a local tour guide and will visit all selected photo locations to take pictures for 30-45 minutes each. All photo locations are visited on foot and are not accessible to wheelchair users. Please wear stable and non-slip shoes. The Photowalk takes place in rain or sunshine - but all photo locations are indoors.
Photowalk competition
All participants of the DESY photowalk have the opportunity to take part in the Photowalk competition by submitting their 10 best photos taken during the event. A jury will then select the 60 best pictures of all participants and exhibit them at our open day on 20 June 2020.
In addition, the five best photos will participate in the international Interactions photo competition.
