The innovation centre “Start-up Labs Hamburg” on the research campus in Hamburg-Bahrenfeld is a joint project of DESY, the University of Hamburg and the City of Hamburg. In the high-tech environment of DESY and several institutes of the university, the start-up centre, financed by the City of Hamburg and DESY, has been offering offices and laboratory space for new companies and start-ups whose business models are based on various research fields of the campus since 2021.
The new building with approx. 2700 sqm of usable space is located on the northeastern edge of the DESY campus and opens it architecturally to Lurup Hauptstraße. The building offers the start-ups approx. 1100 sqm of both office and laboratory space. Construction and operation were taken over by Innovationszentrum Forschungscampus Hamburg-Bahrenfeld GmbH.
