Federico Meloni is a researcher in particle physics
at the Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron DESY in Hamburg

Research

My research work focuses on the investigation of the energy and intensity frontiers of particle interactions. I carry out my experimental work as a member of the ATLAS experiment at CERN, the LUXE experiment at DESY and the European Free Electron Laser, and the International Muon Collider Collaboration. My team works on data analysis, quantum computing algorithms, and detector design and construction.

Teaching

I enjoy the challenge of communicating the excitement of physics to people who have not yet decided their final path of study and strive to teach widely accessible courses. As a researcher in a national lab, most of my recent teaching activity has been done at master and PhD level.
Since 2017 I have been lecturing at summer and winter schools, as well as national workshops (ATLAS-D), teaching classes on topics ranging from supersymmetry to statistics, machine learning and quantum computing.

Dissemination and Outreach

I am disseminating our research to experts at national and international conferences and seminars, but also to the general public at various outreach events.
