Vortrag / lecture

Dr Christian Schröer: Why do you need big accelerators to see small things?

How does a vaccine get to the right place in the body? Why does the battery in a smartphone age so quickly? How are tear-resistant cellulose fibres made that can be easily composted after use? Scientists from all over the world can answer these and many other questions with the help of the 2.3-kilometre-long synchrotron radiation source PETRA III at DESY. We will see how this works in this lecture and a hands-on experiment. >This Science Café is a hybrid event, so our guests have the choice of participating live on the DESY campus or via zoom. We would be delighted to welcome as many guests as possible live!
