Learning trivializing flows

Dr. Stefan Schaefer (DESY Zeuthen)

Generating QCD gauge fields by applying a flow to configurations drawn from a uniform distribution is an appealing alternative to the standard Markov Chain Monte Carlo. It would solve all autocorrelation problems. More than a decade ago, Lüscher introduced a perturbative construction of such a flow within the Hybrid Monte Carlo algorithm. Here we build on this work and ask the question of whether one can apply machine learning methods to determine the coefficients of this flow and make this approach useful in practical simulations.
