Short description of the project the student should work on  :

Participation in CMS HCAL uTCA project:
Setup of external trigger for uTCA test stand. 
Timing studies on uTCA backplane and frontend setup. 
Embedding of CERN uTCA card in CERN standard online framework (glib -> xdaq). 
Implementation of uTCA crate control in CMS slow control (PVSS-WinCC)

Physics / Computing/ Engineering  Content of the project :

no HEP Physics
Computing: program development for CMS frameworks PVSS(WinCC) + xdaq
Engineering: acquirement of basic skills in scope usage and trigger timing

Special Qualifications expected from the student ( Computing,...) :

deeper knowledge in object oriented programming (Java, C++)
