European support for young researchers led by DESY
The next generation of ultrafast science research begins at LEAPS
With the launch of its new website, the European LEAPS-Ultrafast Postdoctoral Network has officially opened its first call for applications for early-career researchers in ultrafast science. LEAPS stands for "League of European Accelerator-based Photon Sources". Coordinated by DESY and funded by the European Union, the programme connects leading research infrastructures across Europe and will introduce its fellowships, research areas and application process during two webinars on 15 and 16 June.
LEAPS promotes excellence in European ultra-short-time research
LEAPS-Ultrafast brings together leading synchrotron and free-electron laser facilities as well as major photon-science research centres across Europe. The programme aims to connect outstanding postdoctoral researchers with world-class science, advanced technologies and a strong international research network.
Funded by the European Commission through the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA COFUND) programme and coordinated by DESY, LEAPS-Ultrafast will offer 57 postdoctoral fellowships across six European countries over the next five years. Research topics range from ultrafast dynamics in matter and quantum technologies to energy research, health sciences and advanced imaging methods.
To mark the launch of the network, two webinars will take place on 15 and 16 June. These sessions will provide insights into the programme, the first call for applications and the scientific and professional opportunities available within the international consortium.
