Statement by the DESY directorate
As an international research centre, DESY stands for openness, free exchange, and global responsibility. In view of the alarming situation in Iran, the DESY directorate would like to express solidarity with our Iranian employees.
We are dismayed by the developments in Iran, the interference in freedom of expression and information, and, above all, the massive repression and violence against demonstrators. Our thoughts are with our many Iranian colleagues and partners in our community who are personally affected through family members or other close ties, and we share their concern. As a highly international research centre, where people from 75 nations work and many more visit as guests, many crises around the world directly affect our employees, and we condemn any repression suffered by civilians.
