High-Temperature Superconductivity
In the nineties, cooper pair coupling by antiferromagnetic spin waves rather than by phonons was proposed to explain the properties of cuprate superconductors. One-dimensional theoretical systems are often accessible to analytic solutions. Hence, cuprate superconductors with one-dimensional rather than the 'usual' two-dimensional conductivity properties became interesting for testing theoretical approaches.
